Mr Mohyudin Before Your Surgery
Everything you need to know to prepare for your procedure with Mr Mohyudin
Booking Your Consultation
Your journey begins with a private consultation at Spire Elland Hospital or Newmedica (Bradford/Huddersfield). At this appointment Mr Mohyudin will take a full ophthalmic history, perform a comprehensive examination, explain your diagnosis, discuss all available treatment options, and provide a personalised recommendation. There is no obligation to proceed with surgery at this stage.
Your Pre-Operative Assessment
Once a surgical date is agreed, you will attend a pre-operative assessment. For cataract surgery this includes IOLMaster biometry (precise lens power calculation), corneal topography, and slit-lamp assessment. For eyelid procedures, photographic documentation and, where indicated, Humphrey visual field testing. Pre-operative blood tests and an anaesthetic review are arranged if required.
Pre-Operative Instructions
You will receive written pre-operative instructions specific to your procedure. General guidance includes: continue all regular medications unless specifically advised otherwise; for procedures under local anaesthetic, eat and drink normally beforehand; for general anaesthetic cases, follow the fasting instructions provided by the hospital; arrange a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you overnight for surgical procedures.
Insurance & Funding
If using private medical insurance, obtain pre-authorisation from your insurer before your consultation. Mr Mohyudin is recognised by Bupa (Fee-Assured), AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA, Cigna and most major insurers. For self-pay patients, a fixed all-inclusive price is confirmed at consultation and includes the procedure, theatre fees, implants, and routine follow-up appointments.
On the Day — What to Bring
Bring your pre-operative assessment letter, a list of current medications, and your insurance authorisation number if applicable. Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Do not wear eye makeup on the day of eyelid surgery. Leave valuables at home. If you wear contact lenses, switch to spectacles for 2–4 weeks before corneal measurements.
